Cepheid has received US FDA clearance for its Xpert Respiratory Panel, a multiplex PCR test that detects 13 common viral and bacterial respiratory pathogens from one nasopharyngeal swab.
The panel runs on existing GeneXpert systems and, according to Cepheid, needs less than a minute of hands-on time. The company says shipping to US customers will begin in the coming weeks.
